Travels

Onley, Virginia

AND SURROUNDING AREAS

FINALLY went on a vacation for the first time in almost 3 years! It was bitter sweet to get away again. It was a much needed vacation. We stayed in a small shitty motel room to save some money to enjoy our vacation even more. Gotta do what you gotta do! Spent 5 days down there and traveled a little bit to other destinations. If you enjoy small, historic towns, then this is the place for you! Left Thursday morning to arrive in the early afternoon. We spent Thursday just relaxing and hanging out with some of my friends I know down there. Friday we went up to Chincoteague, Virginia, which was about 45 minutes from where we were staying. Spent most of the day there swimming at the beach(which you have to pay to enter, $5), ate at some local spots and played some mini golf! Unfortunately I didn’t think to take any pictures at Chincoteague. Below are the areas and pictures that I actually took while on vacation. Sunday we went to the aquarium in Virginia Beach. If you have kids then it’s fine. Otherwise I would not recommend. I’m not sure if they changed things since covid, but you all had to walk in one direction and the overload of strollers was too much for me. Maybe I would have felt differently if I actually had children. I also didn’t take any pictures here. We left Monday early afternoon and on our way home we stopped at another local restaurant to eat before heading home. On the way home we stopped at the Salisbury Zoo. It’s a small FREE admission zoo. They work off of donations, even $5 can help them out! Sadly not all of the exhibits were open because of covid. I do have photos of some of the animals at the zoo, but they are on my phone. They aren’t the best quality. I guess you’ll have to go and visit for yourselves!

Cape Charles, Virginia

Saturday was spent in Cape Charles. I just love it here! We didn’t get to go swimming, but the water is so calm here. Spent some time at the local museum, walked around town and walked out the pier overlooking the water and beach.

After the pier we took a short drive over to the Cape Charles Natural Area Preserve. It was nice and secluded. Not another soul in site. I wish it was a little cooler because I would have explored and walked along the whole path. It took us out to the beach, but unfortunately we couldn’t walk down to the beach.

We spent some time walking around the town. Bought some salt water taffy and fudge at a cute little candy store. It was soooo good! Afterwards we ate at a local pizza place. The pizza was good, but man was it so hot inside. It was surprisingly cooler outside. Then we went to a historic site. I thought we would have access to it, but unfortunately there were “NO TRESPASSING” signs posted. It was at the Cape Charles colored school. I’m super bummed I couldn’t go inside to take pictures, but here’s the outside.

Onancock, Virginia

This is where we spent quite a bit of time. This is where I knew some local people. I got the chance to walk around and take some pictures of this beautiful historic town. One night we stopped at a local bar and got a few drinks. Beautiful place inside and awesome service. Another morning we ate at another local restaurant. AMAZING food! We got to eat right next to the water. AMAZING view. I would highly recommend this place. I wish I had taken more photos. Maybe if I get used to actually writing and updating this damn blog of mine! Anyways enjoy the few photos that I did take! Also in the first photo you can see my boyfriend!
