Hey there! I’m here to talk to you about aloe vera gel. I’ve done a lot of research on aloe vera and “they” say it’s pretty good for you. Who’s “they”? I’d love to know too!
Now I’m not going to sit here and rabble on about something that’s happened in my life that doesn’t even pertain to this post. I’m still new to this blogging thing and you guys don’t know me yet. Once I have a hang of this this, I’ll let you in to the deep dark secrets of my life (I promise It’s not that interesting).
So, I had been looking into something to help with my hyperpigmentation I have at the corners of my mouth. Let’s give a shout out to my boyfriend for constantly pointing it out to me, woot-wooot! Going to the doctor was going to be my last resort.
Lately, I have been trying to transition into the organic all-natural remedy route. Yes, I know, I’m one of “those” people. I swear I’m not annoying about it, but hey you’ll never know. Thankfully there are already millions of people out there with a vast knowledge on this subject.
One thing that constantly kept popping up was aloe vera gel, so I thought hey it can’t hurt to try! Total game changer! I only used it for two, count ’em, TWO days and I was already getting compliments. I was glowing! And no it wasn’t for another reason ya’ll.
Let’s finally get to what you actually came here for. All I did was harvest some aloe vera gel from an aloe vera leaf. Sure you can just buy the gel at the store, but hey I like a challenge. There doesn’t seem to be a right or wrong way to harvest the gel, so find whatever is easiest for you. I like to cut it into sections and then cut the gel out of the leaf. Since I’m all about Reduce-Reuse-Recycle, I used an old jam jar to put the gel in. Yes, of course I cleaned out the jar you guys.

One of the downsides is the gel only lasts for about 5-7 days and your boyfriend may make fun of you for bringing a jar of aloe vera gel to his house for the weekend. No, just mine? Some people suggest putting honey in the jar with the gel to extend the shelf life to 14 days, but I found this to make the mixture sticky. Probably added to much honey, but I just prefer the gel on it’s own.

All I did was put it on my face in the morning and at night. Make sure to wash your face with cold water before putting it on and wipe the water off with a clean towel. If you add honey to the gel, I recommend putting the mixture on and letting it sit for about 30 minutes and then rinsing it off.
I’d also like to add that I have very sensitive skin and this did NOT seem to hurt my skin at all. Oh and guess what!? It helped with my acne scars too! I am in no way a doctor, so please consult yours before ever trying anything new on your skin!!
P.S. Sorry for the sub-par images-I’ve never been very good at taking pictures indoors, but I’m working on it!
